Fall Home Maintenance!

         Fall Home Maintenance!

Fall home maintenance is an important thing! It helps keep your home nice and clean. It also helps protect your home from something that could potentially cause some damage. Here are some things you can do to help maintain your home!

Change out air filters. You want to breathe clean air during the winter right? This is the perfect time to check your air filters and change them out for new ones!

Remove your garden hoses from the faucet! Leaving them on during the colder months is not good at all. With the freezing weather, it could cause some preventable damage.

Rake the leaves! It is easier to clean up debris and leaves outside when they are fresh than in the spring when they start to decompose and mulch.

Winterize sprinkler systems! With the colder weather, you want to make sure your sprinklers are ready for it. If something happens to them it won't be good for your wallet. Winterizing them can help them from freezing and prevents damage.

Prep your home if going on Vacation! Leaving for Thanksgiving or Christmas? Make sure to open cabinets that have pipes in them or leave them dripping. This will keep them from freezing and causing some serious damage to your home.

Deep clean your house! This is the time to deep clean your home. Especially before your relatives come.

Clean out those rain gutters! Rain gutters can get filled with leaves and other debris that will not be good if they get too packed. Cleaning them out with help protect your home when it rains and not cause damage from the gutters getting to pack.

This list isn't everything you can do in order to keep maintenance up on your home. If you need more ideas a google search can help with that! We hope our little list gets you starting and helps you keep your home nice and protect from the colder weather.

         Thanksgiving is Next Week!

It's the week before Thanksgiving, are you ready?? Here are some tips for Thanksgiving.

Clean out the fridge! You will want room in your fridge for all that delicious food. Not only for leftovers but for all the food that will eventually get prepped and made into Thanksgiving dinner.

Make A Plan! Be sure to have a checklist of things that need to get done before and on Thanksgiving. You don't want to forget anything.

Grocery shop in advanced! If you haven't already, go to the store or do a pickup and get what you need for Thanksgiving. You don't want to go out on the day when everything is gone.

Pre-cook/Pre-make it! Prep as much as you can before the day! The more you prep the less you have to do on the day.

These are only a few things that you can do before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving isn't too far away so start getting things done!

Remember that Covid is going around and it is the start of flu season. Please do your part to keep everyone safe and healthy.

         November Activities!

Need activities to do this November? You came to the right place. Here is a list of different activities you can do!

Do the basic turkey activity and make turkeys by tracing your hands! Fun to do with friends or family.

Watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. A cute show that will get you in the Thanksgiving mood.

Make Turkey shaped pancakes. Makes for a delicious breakfast... or lunch or even dinner.

Write thank you letters to friends, family, veterans, or someone that you would like to thank you for something.

Learn to bake. Baking is a fun activity and it is a different more fun way to heat up your home.

Host a Friendsgiving. If you aren't hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year might as well host a Friendsgiving. It is a fun way to spend time with friends and eat delicious food. (Of course be cautious with this as Covid is on the rise).

            Volunteer to feed the homeless.

Learn how to say Thank you in as many languages as you can.

These are only a few activities that you can try doing this November. Please remember as the weather is getting colder and Covid still around to be safe and respectful to people around you. Happy November!!

Thank you for your sacrifice, your bravery, and the example you set for us all. In short, thank you for your service!

Halloween is Saturday!! It has finally arrived! Have you gotten candy yet? If not, this is your reminder. Whether you are buying to treat your family or to make those yodas, princesses, and super heroes happy when they come to your door. This year is a little weird and you may or may not go trick or treating or have trick or treaters at your door but Halloween isn't Halloween without that Halloween candy so treat you and your family or even just yourself with some Halloween goodies!

         Pumpkin Carving Safety Tips!

Pumpkin carving is one activity that is under the definition of fall and Halloween. Pumpkin carving is an activity that a lot of people enjoy doing during the fall season. It makes for a fun activity with family or friends and a fun decoration for your home. If you are planning on doing it this season here are some safety tips to help everyone keep their fingers.

Find a sturdy location. You don't want anything wobbling or moving while you are carving away.

Use the correct tools for pumpkin carving. Using the wrong tools can make it difficult to carve and make it easier to have something go wrong.

Do Not Rush! Take it slow. No need to rush through the process. Rushing it can lead to mistakes for you and the pumpkins new face.

Do not put your hands in the pumpkin while carving. Have you ever hand-sown and accidentally poked your finger with needl? Same situation here but a little more dangerous. You don't want to poke yourself with a pumpkin carving knife.

Keep your hands and the tools clean. Pumpkin juices makes your hands and tools gross and slimy. Keeping hands and tools clean keeps you safe from a slip of the hand or tool.

Use fake battery powered candles or glow sticks to light your pumpkins. This helps prevent the risk of fires. Using a real candle has the possibility to lead to a fire but using a fake candle or glow stick prevents that from happening.

Don't want to carve a pumpkin? Then paint it! Painting a pumpkin can be just as fun as carving. Its a little less messy and doesn't involve sharp tools. If you do carve a pumpkin we hope these safety tips help and save your fingers! Enjoy carving!

         Check the Smoke Alarm Batteries!

Have you checked your smoke alarms yet? This is the perfect time of year to make sure your smoke alarms are in good shape. Whether that be making sure the batteries are good or checking the smoke alarm itself. Smoke alarms last for 10 years but the batteries don't always last as long. This is the time of year where fall candles come out, Christmas lights go up, and baking season begins. These events have the potential to go south so now is the time to make sure the smoke alarms are good to go just in case. Checking smoke alarms should be a yearly thing and this is the perfect season to check them. Just like spring cleaning there are somethings you need to do every fall and checking those smoke alarms is one of the important ones.

Make Your Sink Smell Good Again!

Does your sink stink? Here's how to fix it!

When that sink starts getting smelly what can you? Don't have those fancy products to make it smell better? Here is a simple way to fix that smell with products that you can find around your home! First dump a hand full of baking soda down the drain. DO NOT run any water. Let that sit for 15 minutes. After those 15 minutes are up, pour 1/4 to 1/2 of white vinegar down. Don't have white vinegar? Use lemon juice instead. You'll hear the fizz of bubbles popping then wait another 15 minutes. Once that time is up you will pour down boiling water. Be careful as it is hot! Then viola you are done! You sink will smell good again! This will last up to six weeks! Repeat when necessary.

Spring Cleaning Time!

Spring is coming/upon us! Which means it is time to get that house in order. Here are some tips to help you get that spring cleaning done!

                1. De-clutter! A good thing to do during spring cleaning is de-cluttering your home. Getting rid of things that you don't use or junk that has been laying around your house. It is the perfect time to Marie Kondo your house! If it doesn't bring you joy get rid of it. This will make it so there is less things laying around you home and make your home feel more organized.

               2. Do it Room by Room! You don't have to do the whole house all at once. Doing it room by room allows you to focus on the room your in, instead of getting distracted by other rooms or bigger projects. It also makes the task not seem as taunting as thinking 'I need to clean this whole house?!' It helps make the job seem just a little bit smaller.

               3. Make a Schedule! Make a list of things that need to be cleaned and de-clutter then put it on a schedule. By doing this it helps get the job done as you have a schedule to follow instead of just slowly doing the cleaning as you are motivated to. The schedule helps you keep track of everything and you have done and needs to get done. You could make it so one day you do the kitchen the next day or week you do the bathroom.

               4. Don't forget the Air Filter! The warmer weather is coming and that means you will want you AC working well. This is the perfect time to make sure you have a fresh new Air filter. Replace the filter if need be and replace it as it needs to be replace. Having a clean air filter will help your AC work the way you want/need it to.

We hope these tips help you out with your spring cleaning!

Every year we start the year of with New Year's resolutions. Most years by the time we reach February and haven't kept up with those goals. Think of January as a trial month and now February is the new month to get things done. The best way to keep those goals going, whether it is losing weight, getting healthy, or buying a house, you need a PLAN. As the picture above says "A goal without a plan is just a wish." If you don't have a plan then most likely the goal won't happen. Make those plan and start heading towards those goals you want. The goals don't need to be big that can be whatever you would like them to be. You just need to find a plan or step by step idea to make them happen and one that works for you. You can do this! You can plan and achieve all those goals you want! Make this year the year where you achieve those goals!

Back To School Helpful Tips

That time has come! Whether you have kids who are going back to school or you are going back to school the time has come to get all the supplies and schedules worked out for the new school year.

For both parents and college students one quick tip that will help you get out the door quicker, is set multiple alarms. For parents, this is a good idea for those kids who don’t want to wake up the first time. It will help you and your kids remember to get them up or get up. For college students, it will help you know exactly how much time you have until you absolutely have to get up.

For both parents and students, plan ahead! Planning ahead not only helps keep you organized and ready for the school year but it also helps you know exactly what is coming up and what things are more important. Having a planner is a great idea but you must use it! It will help you keep track of when things are due and what is coming up. Another thing is to have a calendar up somewhere so you can have a quick glance at the week/month that is coming.

Hopefully this tips will help! Good luck with the new school year!

SERVICE ANIMALS IN UTAH HOUSING

Hoping this information will answer some of your questions regarding Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals.

Utah’s disability rights act prohibits housing discrimination against those with disabilities, including those who use service dogs. Landlords may charge those with service dogs a security deposit for damage or wear and tear on the property, but only if the landlord charges a similar deposit for others.

The federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing accommodations against those who use service animals. You must be allowed full and equal access to all housing facilities, and may not be charged extra for having a service animal (although you may have to pay for damage your animal causes). If your lease or rental agreement includes a “no pets” provision, it does not apply to your service animal.

Pursuant to the federal Fair Housing Act, housing facilities must allow service dogs and emotional support animals, if necessary for a person with a disability to have an equal opportunity to use and enjoy the home. To fall under this provision, you must have a disability and you must have a disability-related need for the animal. In other words, the animal must work, perform tasks or services, or alleviate the emotional effects of your disability in order to qualify. (For more information, see the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s guidance on service animals.)
